Montrose Township Group

The Montrose Township Group was established in 2005 by local traders & residents who volunteer their time & enthusiasm to provide a voice for the community on local issues. It is an incorporated association.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE;
Montrose Township Group Members are volunteers who endeavour to improve the township & surrounds for the benefit of the community.
The intent is to continuously improve & upgrade the Township for the benefit of all people who live & work in Montrose & surrounds.
Elections for office bearers are held at the Annual General Meeting on the 1st Monday in June each year, & posters appear in local businesses to advertise the event. All local residents are eligible to participate in the group & stand for election on the night.
If you want to be nominated to join during the year, download our nomination form and get in touch!
At present our focus is on the eradication of graffiti, & we are working with the great support of Yarra Ranges Council & local police, as well as local traders, to make a difference in this area. Regular working bees together with "instant removal" by property owners, group and other volunteers is making a big difference.
Constant vigilance and prompt removal is essential to help keep Montrose a "graffiti free zone." Please help by removing graffiti from your property, and being the community's eyes and ears to report graffiti in Montrose. See our GraffitiWatch page for more information.
The Alleyway Artwork project was completed in June to beautify the alleyway leading from the rear car park to the shops on Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd. See the images above for a comparison of how it looks now and how it looked before. We think you'll agree it's more than just an improvement - it's a total transformation!
The murals were created by local artists, teachers and children who donated their time and skills to depict "Historic Montrose" & also commemorate some notable Montrose identities, including Kevin Heinze. They have been celebrated in our 2011 calendars and form a wonderful open air art gallery which is a great asset to the town, we are sure you'll agree!
