Montrose Township Group

 The Montrose Township Group was established in 2005 by local traders & local residents who volunteer their time & enthusiasm to provide a voice for the community on local development issues.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE;

Montrose Township Group Members are volunteers who endevour to improve the township & surrounds for the benefit of the community.

 The intent is to continuously improve & upgrade the Township for the benefit of all people who live & work in Montrose & surrounds.

Elections for office bearers  are held at the Annual General Meeting on the 1st Monday in June each year, & posters appear in local businesses to advertise the event. All local residents are eligible to participate in the group & stand for election on the night.

At present our focus is on the eradication of graffiti, & we are working with council & local police as well as local traders to make a difference in this area.Regular working bees together with "instant removal" by group volunteers is making a big difference & a comparison between the present, June 2010) & twelve months ago, shows that Montrose is becoming a "graffiti free zone."

If you would like to help in your own way be cleaning any graffiti you see  as soon as it appears it wil all make a difference. Graffiti clean up kits ate available from Council free of charge.

The Alleyway Artwork project has recently been completed to beautify the alleyway leading from the rear car park to the shops on Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd.

Opened by Cr Len Cox, Mayor of Yarra Ranges Shire, the mural depicts "Historic Montrose" & also commemorates some notable Montrose identities, including Kevin Heinze.

Local artists have donated their time & skills to produce a wonderful open art gallery which is a great asset to the town, results of which we hope meets with the communities' approval.
